LAX and the motel: what to know
LAX organizes taxi and ride-app pickups at LAX-it, a central pickup lot next to Terminal 1. For a car ride to the motel, you can plan around that designated pickup point rather than searching for a pickup at each terminal.
You can walk to LAX-it or take the free shuttle from the lower, arrivals level. The shuttle boards at the inner curb outside baggage claim, beside green LAX-it signs. Follow those signs after collecting your bags if you’re taking the shuttle.
How do you get from LAX to the motel by car?
For a direct car pickup, choose between an official taxi and a ride app. LAX permits airport taxi pickups only for taxis bearing an official seal issued by the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
Taxi
Take the LAX-it shuttle or walk to the pickup lot next to Terminal 1, then use a taxi bearing the required City of Los Angeles seal. LAX’s rule applies to taxis picking up at the airport.
Ride app
Ride-app providers at LAX include Lyft, Opoli, Uber and Wingz. Ride-app pickups use LAX-it, so get there on foot or by the free shuttle from the arrivals level before connecting with your driver.
What public transit connections are available from LAX?
The C Line or K Line takes passengers to the LAX/Metro Transit Center, and a free, frequent shuttle connects that center with the airport terminals.
At the transit center, the shuttle to the terminals boards at bus bays 1 and 2. This connection gets you between the rail-and-bus center and LAX; it is separate from the LAX-it shuttle used for taxi and ride-app pickups. The Los Angeles Metro stations near Park Cienega Motel can help orient you to the area’s station options.
Metro’s online schedule includes Line 102, running from LAX/Metro Transit Center to South Gate via La Tijera Boulevard and Exposition Boulevard, and Line 210, running between South Bay/Redondo Beach Transit Center and Hollywood/Vine Station via Crenshaw Boulevard. Those route descriptions alone do not establish a complete trip from LAX to the motel, including transfers, fares or service hours.
For broader local transport context, getting around Los Angeles from Park Cienega Motel covers the motel’s connections to the city.
How should you plan your airport arrival?
First, decide whether you want a car pickup or a transit connection. For a taxi or ride app, follow the LAX-it signs from baggage claim; for an airport shuttle, look for the pink zones on the lower level.
If using Metro, travel to the LAX/Metro Transit Center and continue to a terminal on the free shuttle from bus bays 1 and 2.
