The Academy Museum combines film exhibitions with screening and public spaces across a two-building campus. At the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in the Miracle Mile district, it sits beside LACMA on Museum Row.
Architect Renzo Piano designed the 300,000-square-foot campus. The Saban Building is a restored 1939 Wilshire May Company building; alongside it stands the Sphere Building, whose glass dome shelters the open-air Dolby Family Terrace. From the terrace, you can see the Hollywood Hills and Hollywood Sign.
The Saban Building has six floors of exhibition and special-event spaces, a movie theater, a restaurant and café, a museum store, and education and conservation studios. The Sphere Building contains the David Geffen Theater as well as the terrace.
General admission includes the galleries, including special exhibitions. You can also visit several spaces without a museum ticket: the Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby, Academy Museum Store, Level 1 gallery of the core exhibition Stories of Cinema, Fanny’s Restaurant and Café, and Ted Mann Lobby.

Which nearby cultural stops can you pair with a visit?

LACMA is next door, so you can combine the Academy Museum with a visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Museum Row. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art visitor guide covers that neighboring museum.
The Petersen Automotive Museum is another nearby cultural stop, and its garage is one of the parking options named by the Academy Museum. If you plan to visit both, check the Petersen’s admission details separately; the Academy Museum’s general-admission ticket covers its own galleries.
